Wolverine Team,

This week was beautiful, but it looks like this weekend we need to find our sweatshirts and coats. The leaves will be pretty, but the temps are going to drop. If anyone needs coats or clothing appropriate to the temperature change, please work with your schools Family-Student -Advisor. You can get to them through the building secretary. Here are some updates:

  1. The first meeting of the Chemung Innovation Center Board took place this week. Thank you to the elected officials and staff for their support and ideas.
  2. The Future Farmers of America is off and running at both the middle and high school level.
  3. Many of our high school students are involved in dual enrollment course through TC3 and CCC. Please do not sleep on this opportunity for your kids. It is a great cost savings and better prepares your kids for life or college.
  4. Fall sports are moving past the halfway point. Thank you to all our kids who represent our community with the “W”!
  5. Our kids in cross country showed well at the McQuaid Invite which had schools from multiple states. We are in good shape coming into the section and state qualifiers.
  6. Girls’ soccer is battling hard for position at the sectional tournament.
  7. Volleyball is also in the mix for a decent seed at the sectionals.
  8. Boys soccer is grinding through a tough schedule and injuries. They will continue to represent the school well as they work to build the program.
  9. Swimming was .2 seconds from qualifying their 200 Freestyle relay for the state championships at Watkins Glen. If things go right, they can hit it in Elmira next weekend. Mira Kittle has already qualified multiple events for states.
  10. Cheerleading has done a great job with increased numbers and great school spirit.
  11. Football is coming off an exciting win over Chenango Forks last week that saw victory secured with 12 seconds left in the game.

I encourage you again to get your elementary level kids into recreation. Most villages do not have the support our kids get from our Village Board. We also have many clubs including archery, community art, skeet in the spring, the middle school musical, WNN, e-games teams, the Den and many, many more.

The regional comparison on 3-8 state testing was released this week. We are in the middle or upper end on every grade level including top scores in region for 8th grade. This is important as these kids are getting ready to jump into high school.

We are on the turf. Our kids have been practicing athletics and band on the turf this week. It looks amazing. This month they will be finishing up the concrete and paving work. It will be a big community accomplishment and we thank you for your support. Phase two should be approved by the state in the next week or two.

Again, thank you for your continued support and I look forward to seeing what else our kids can accomplish to make their school and community a better place.

Kids-Community-Each Other,

Eric
