CTE Applications now asks for students’ shoe, pants, shirt size, as well as dominate hand to be able to order CTE student supplies.
GST BOCES not using a first come first served method. The committee will be reviewing applications as they come in and make decisions so that all students have an equal opportunity.
GST BOCES would like to have decisions for CTE placements back to districts the 1st week of June. However, this date is subject change.
GST BOCES will send letters to students if they have been admitted to a program.

Requesting Final Amateurism Certification
Graduating student-athletes who are being recruited by an NCAA Division I or II school must request their final amateurism certification from the NCAA Eligibility Center before they can be eligible to practice, compete and receive athletics aid in college.

It's that time of year again when seniors will want to know how to access their CCC transcripts.
Please refer to the information on how to request your college transcript for classes taken either concurrently at Waverly or Online for dual enrollment credit.
*Please Note - The Guidance Department does not receive a copy of a student's CCC transcript and this must be done through the College directly. In addition, the student must complete the process as the College will not accept a request from a parent/guardian.

The Junior League of Greater Elmira-Corning is seeking applications for its 18th-annual Outstanding High School Senior Volunteer Scholarship. This scholarship seeks to reward a young woman who is college-bound and is currently donating, or has donated, her time to volunteering. This can be in either her school or the community during her senior year. The $2,500 scholarship is intended to be used for college expenses. The Junior League of Greater Elmira-Corning is a member of an international organization of women volunteers that has been active in the area since 1932. They have donated more than $500,000 and countless volunteer hours to organizations and agencies across Chemung and Steuben counties. They are dedicated to developing the potential of women and to improving communities by identifying projects that need attention. They seek to assist a young woman in the community who personifies the organization’s mission. The deadline for submission is May 1, 2025. Lifeguarding Course Available!
TC3 is offering a FREE Lifeguarding training course on Sundays from May 4-June 22 from 9am-1pm. See the attached flyer for details.
Participants who successfully complete this training course will earn the American Red Cross certificate in Lifeguarding (incl Deep Water) with CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers and First Aid (valid for 2 years).
Students must be at least 15 yrs old by June 22 and pass the two swimming skill evaluation at the first class.

Howard "Bud" Tompkins Scholarship - May 1st Deadline
Howard Tompkins, known to friends and family as Bud, moved to Waverly at the age of 9. He lived with his family on Circle Drive and graduated from Waverly High School in 1967. He had a childhood love of baseball, playing all thru Babe Ruth and high school ball. It wasn’t until college where he discovered his love of science, ultimately completing an undergraduate degree in Biology and a Master’s of Public Health. He dedicated his professional career to environmental protection and public service.
This scholarship is designated for an athlete (male/female) interested in pursuing a career in the sciences, as a tribute to Bud Tompkins’ legacy. The scholarship is in the amount of $500.

Rotary Youth Leadership Conference 2025 - Attention Juniors! March 24th, 2025 deadline!
With Spring approaching, now is the time to look for Summer opportunities. The RYLA (Rotary Youth Leadership Awards) Conference is a great place to start! The RYLA Conference is a forum that provides exceptional students moving from their Junior to Senior year with an opportunity to exchange ideas, opinions and beliefs with other students in a relaxed, retreat-style setting. Students will have the opportunity to meet other area students, stay on a college campus setting, learn leadership skills and build friendships. Area high school teachers act as guest speakers and have students participate in various workshops to build confidence and skills for students to use as they progress from high school to their post-graduation goals. *The conference this year runs from Sunday, June 29th, 2025 to Wednesday, July 2nd, 2025 at the SUNY Oneonta Campus in Oneonta, NY. All fees for students are paid by the local Rotary Club. MILDRED FAULKNER TRUMAN FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIP
The scholarship fund is to be awarded in memory of Mildred Faulkner Truman who was a lifelong resident of Owego and whose vision was to establish a Foundation to benefit the residents of Tioga County. The scholarships are to be given to three high school seniors who plan to further his/her education, demonstrates a financial need and community involvement and who will receive a diploma from the Waverly High School in June following receipt of application. Up to three scholarships will also be awarded to students who have enlisted in the United States Armed Forces and will begin their service upon high school graduation.
THE AMOUNT OF THE SCHOLARSHIP
The Advisory Committee of the Mildred Faulkner Truman Foundation will determine the amount of the scholarship to be awarded at its first meeting in each year. The Scholarship Committee shall be notified in a timely manner and shall reimburse each student awarded the scholarship as an offset to a paid tuition receipt. The students receiving the scholarship for their service in the United States Armed Forces must provide proof of enlistment. The education scholarship award will be for three selected students in the amount of $1,000.00 each. The Armed Forces scholarship will be awarded up to three enlisted in the military and shall be $200.00 each.

Career Fair Day - Juniors & Seniors!
Seniors and PM BOCES (juniors) students - Depart the HS around 9:10 to Chemung and will be there from approximately 9:30-10:30.
Return to HS at approximately 10:45 for 3A lunch. PM BOCES students eat lunch 3A as normal then head to BOCES.
Juniors and AM BOCES(seniors) students - Depart HS around 11 to Chemung and will be there from approximately 11:15-12:15. Return to HS at approximately 12:30ish.
AM BOCES students can report to the Den for attendance purposes and supervision from 8-11. They will receive a Black Day for this event, only if they attend the Job Fair. Otherwise, they should be attending their BOCES program

Norman J. O'Neil Memorial Scholarship - Cops4aCause Ncrm's career in public service as a NYS trooper spanned over 31 years serving the people of New York State, primarily in Broome and Tioga Counties. He served as a trooper and an investigator and was a member of several specialized units. His responsibilities were important to him and Norm could always be counted on to help. He had the strongest sense of dedication and commitment and leadership, distinguishing him as a trusted role model for all. This scholarship award will ensure that the work ethic and characteristics of Norm and how he lived his life every day continues in some small way. The scholarship in the amount of $1000 presented through Cops4aCause is competitive. There is only one recipient each year from thirteen (13) schools within Broome County and one recipient from six (6) schools within Tioga County. Applications are submitted by graduating high school seniors. The scholarship is awarded to a student in recognition of their community service and who will be pursuing studies in law enforcement and related fields and who exemplifies the values and ideals that were the core of Norm's life. Basis for the Award: The award is based on an individual continuing on a path of personal growth. One individual student will be considered.
Award Amount: $5,000.00
Eligibility Requirements: Applicants must be a graduating senior from Waverly High School. The award is contingent upon acceptance to a duly accredited institution of higher education or trade school.
Deadline for Application: May 15, 2025.
Application Requirements: Applicants must fill out the provided application form in its entirety. Applicants must also submit a one page (minimum), single-spaced, typed essay responding to the italicized essay prompt. Finally, please include an up-to-date copy of your transcript (can be scanned).

Leprino Scholarship
The Leprino Foods Waverly plant is pleased to offer their annual $1,000 Scholarship to one graduating Senior at each of the following schools: Waverly High School, Sayre High School & Athens High School.
Students must be entering College or a Trade School for the Fall 2025 term, carrying a minimum 3.40 GPA, and pursuing a degree or certification in: Dairy Sciences, Environmental Sciences, Computer Science, Engineering or Maintenance areas.

Chemung County/Casella Waste Management Systems Scholarship
Chemung County is pleased to announce the 2025 Chemung County/CaseIIa Waste Management Systems Scholarship, a scholarship program designed to assist college or college-bound students pursuing careers in environmental science, engineering, agriculture, waste management, or another environment related field.
The scholarship will provide $2,200 in 2025 toward the education costs of each awarded scholarship recipient. Based on review of application materials, scholarships will be awarded to candidates that best demonstrate eligibility, commitment to an environmental career path, and academic success. Additionally, eligible applicants must be residents of Chemung County and U.S. citizens or permanent residents.
The deadline to apply for this scholarship is April 28, 2025, and the County expects to notify scholarship recipients toward the end of May 2025. Hoover Memorial has been established to fund a scholarship intended to be awarded annually to a graduating Waverly High School Senior planning to enroll or who is already enrolled in higher education with a major in criminal justice or related fields. Criminal justice is defined as, but not limited to law, legal studies, public safety, court services, law enforcement, fire science, forensic science, juvenile/family justice, protective service, corrections, parole, homeland security, environmental protection, or military service). The family encourages ALL majors to apply.
